Feb. 22, 2023 - Luxembourg-based steelmaker ArcelorMittal planned to restart its blast furnace No. 2 at its Fos-sur-Mer plant in France in April.
The company announced in early November last year that it would start idling furnaces from December due to high energy costs, high import volumes, and low demand and prices. However, European coil prices had slowly recovered since December last year.
ArcelorMittal expected the auto sector's performance to improve in the coming months, which was why the company resumed much of its idled capacity in the last months of 2022.
